Ak niekto upgraduje na Mint 17, chcel by som upozorniť, že momentálne korektne nefunguje "HP Linux Imaging and Printing" v skratke HPLIP /v Mint-e 17 je predinštalovaná verzia č.3.14.3/ a bohužial tento problém nevyriešila ani najnovšia verzia 3.14.4.
Na moju smolu som prešiel na Mint 17 na firemnom notebooku a tam som bez tlačiane úplne OFF.
Predchádzajúce verzie Mint pracujú s HPLIP bez problemov.

Do this to fix possible problems with hplip: Do the .run file, but when it is actually looking for the printer to install the ppk file, unplug it and replug it back in. Then let the installer search, and it will find it. These words you read are the fruits of hours of silliness ranging from trying to install my printer on my wireless router to delving into cups conf files!
I recently updated my old xubuntu box to the last version because I am dumb and it is so easy and thrilling to get the latest software for free, even though everything was working just fine the way it was.
Anyway, today some jerkoff wanted me to give him my w-9 form even though he only owed me $100. Usually a business only needs your w9 if you do ten times that much business. I needed a w9 form so I could get my $100. “No problem!” I said to myself as I downloaded the form and told my computer to print.
Nothing.
So I downloaded and installed the latest hplip run file, 3.14.4, and ran it. I overwrote files, I uninstalled and reinstalled, and got nothing. Finally I noticed I was getting usb errors. Things like, “hp device descriptor read/8, error -110 unable to enumerate” and other such nonsense.
I decided after an hour to try installing this printer on my wireless router which has a perfectly good unused usb port. According to this post, all you have to do is check the boxes for usb printing under services under ddwrt web administration, plug in the printer, reboot and then print to the router’s ip address. This did not work for the old trusty hp 1018 laserjet. A venerable old beast it is but it doesn’t know how to play with this configuration. Either that or the Chinese router I have has options in its gui that just aren’t written into its firmware.
After an hour of this, I tried going back to the xubuntu box. Through dumb luck I tried turning the stupid printer off when the installer couldn’t find the printer, and turning it back on and refreshing. This time it was miraculously seen by the installer, and the .ppk file was installed! I printed some random shit from some forums post about getting a usb printer to work with your microwave and lo and behold, it works now. We shall see if the settings are persistent and it works after I reboot.

mě skenování funguje, přes to jednoduché skenování, tisk jsem nezkoušel nemám toner

Nefungujú Hawlett Packard tlačiarne.
Mne to blbne na pripojeni USB. Ovladače sú OK, HPLIP som dal 3.14.4. Príkaz lsusb tlačiareň nájde. Občas to zafunguje, potom dlho nič --- je to taký stochastický proces. Tvorcovia HPLIP tvrdia, že 3.14.4 testovali s ubuntu 14.04, no užívatelia už majú iné skúsenosti. Zatiaľ sa s tým trápim a v práci ma nefunkčnosť tlačiarne dosť obmedzuje... aj keď ostatné vecí v novom Minte 17 sú fajn.

Na jedné diskuzi psal nějaký člobrda, že zkusil hp-check a hp-doctor a pak mu to stáhlo nějaký pluginy po kterých už tisk fungoval, tak to můžeš vyzkoušet

Tak nevím, mám multifunkci HP Deskjet F2480 a již od samého počátku je vše v naprostém pořádku, včetně ovládání pomocí HPLIP Gui...

Mě s laserovkou od HP pomohlo tohle:
LM 17 mi neviděl laserovou tiskárnu HP LaserJet M1132 MFP
Přes Alt a F2,do příkazového řádku zadat gksu hp-setup,tim se spustí celej Hp Device Manager. Nezapomeň zavřít ten co máš v systray, než začneš.. Poté mi to již tiskárnu uvidělo,vše sem odklikal,souhlasil se smlouvou,pojmenoval tiskárnu a vše je v pořádku.
